About JGL Structural Designs
JGL Structural Designs is a structural and civil engineering consultancy based in Uttoxeter, run by Jonathan Griffith Lee CEng MICE. We work with homeowners, architects, builders and developers across Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
Jonathan's background
Jonathan started his career as a structural technician at 16. While working four days a week at structural consultancies, he studied for a BTEC in Construction Management, an HND in Civil Engineering and Design, and then a BSc (Hons) degree in Civil and Structural Engineering at Nottingham Trent University.
In 2022 he became a Chartered Civil Engineer, a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and registered with the Engineering Council.
Experience
Jonathan has worked in structural design consultancies and directly for developers and contractors, designing in-house schemes and providing site engineering. Having worked on both sides, he designs with the build in mind: practical details your builder can follow on site.
Jonathan has experience across all aspects of construction. Having started at an early age and always worked in a practical, hands-on environment, he has the skills and knowledge to overcome the challenges that unique projects bring, resolving issues as they arise promptly, safely and cost-effectively.

Based in Uttoxeter, we work across Staffordshire and Derbyshire, including Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Burton upon Trent, Derby, Lichfield, Cheadle, Ashbourne and Leek. We're also happy to quote for projects anywhere in the UK. Fully insured for professional indemnity and public liability.
